Athletes Excel at Big Kahuna and Delta Open Track Meets

Three generations: Sebastian Body, Ken Townsend and Shawn Stevens

Ultra Throw athletes delivered an outstanding series of performances at two major Track & Field competitions held on May 16, 2026 — the Big Kahuna Throws Meet in Richmond and the Delta Open Track & Field Meet at North Delta Secondary School in Delta.

Competing across multiple age divisions and throwing disciplines, Ultra Throw members brought home an impressive collection of medals while demonstrating the strength and depth of the club’s athletes from youth through masters competition.

Big Kahuna Throws Meet – Richmond

Ultra Throw athletes had a strong showing in the throws-focused competition, earning numerous podium finishes and personal accomplishments.

Ken Townsend (Men 80-84)

Ken once again demonstrated remarkable consistency and competitive spirit in the masters division, capturing three gold medals:

• Discus Throw — 24.17m — Gold Medal

• Hammer Throw — 25.23m — Gold Medal

• Shot Put — 6.92m — Gold Medal

Shawn Stevens (Men 50-54)

Shawn delivered a solid all-around performance in the throwing events, earning silver medals across the board:

• Hammer Throw — 38.38m — Silver Medal

• Shot Put — 10.71m — Silver Medal

• Discus Throw — 33.72m — Silver Medal

Sebastian Body (U18)

Body continued to impress in the hammer throw with a powerful winning performance:

• Hammer Throw — 50.76m — Gold Medal

Julie Grauer (Women 45-49)

Julie achieved double gold medal success with excellent performances in both the discus and shot put:

• Discus Throw — 21.40m — Gold Medal

• Shot Put — 6.60m — Gold Medal

Delta Open Track & Field Meet – Delta

Ultra Throw’s youth athletes also excelled at the Delta Open Meet, showing tremendous promise and development in the throwing events.

Jonah Hiebert (U13 Boys)

Jonah had an excellent competition highlighted by a gold medal performance in javelin:

• Javelin Throw — 29.94m — Gold Medal

• Shot Put — 7.99m — Bronze Medal

Verity Hiebert (U11 Girls)

Verity produced another strong meet with podium finishes in both events:

• Javelin Throw — 19.00m — Gold Medal

• Shot Put — 7.35m — Bronze Medal

Briella Tessier (U12 Girls)

Briella earned two silver medals with consistent performances:

• Javelin Throw — 17.27m — Silver Medal

• Shot Put — 6.78m — Silver Medal
