It was an exciting day for Ultra Throw athletes at the Eagles Classic on May 9, with our JD and Youth throwers delivering outstanding performances across multiple events. Many athletes captured event wins and achieved new personal bests throughout the competition. Full results are still being compiled, and we look forward to sharing more highlights soon.
One special moment from the meet was seeing Ultra Throw athlete Jonah Hiebert receive the Outstanding Performance in Throws award. The award recognizes exceptional achievement in the throwing events and was a well-deserved honour for a young athlete who continues to demonstrate remarkable talent and dedication.
Jonah has been ranked #1 in Canada in both the Javelin and Discus for his birth year (2013) during both the 2024 and 2025 seasons. Achieving that level of consistency at a young age is no small accomplishment and reflects the hard work, discipline, and commitment he brings to training and competition.
At the same time, high achievement can also bring pressure. Recently, Jonah shared with his mom that constantly trying to maintain such a high standard can sometimes feel overwhelming. It’s an important reminder that behind every ranking and result is a young athlete learning how to balance expectations, growth, and love for the sport.
Moments like receiving the Outstanding Performance award help reinforce what athletics should also be about — recognizing perseverance, effort, resilience, and passion. These experiences help young athletes understand that success is not defined only by rankings, but also by personal development and the journey itself.
Ultra Throw is incredibly proud of Jonah and all of our JD and Youth athletes who represented the club so well this weekend. Their performances, sportsmanship, and support for one another continue to build a strong and positive throwing community.
