Ultra Throw Results at the Masters Multi-Events Meet

Left to right: Mohan Bains, Gabriela Moro, Elizabeth Rollins, and Harnek Toor.

The much-awaited Masters Multi-Events Meet was held on Aug. 27 at the South Surrey Athletic Park hosted by the Greyhounds. Four of our Club members participated in the Throws Pentathlon, and each of their performances was commendable. The result achieved by them has further enhanced the status of our Club at the head of the list of the throwing clubs in the country. The credit for these performances goes to the individual athletes for their grit and perseverance and the dogged devotion of their coach, Dave McDonald.

Individual results are as follows:

  • Gabriella Moro. (75–79). She took part in the Throws Pentathlon and scored 3806 Points, which is quite close to the present BC record in this event. She earned a well-deserved Gold Medal. In the run-up, she also broke the B.C. record in Discus Throw with her best throw of 23.44 M. She fully deserves commendation for this performance.

  • Elizabeth Rollins (70–74). She also performed well in the Throws Pentathlon by scoring 3609 Points and equaled the score of Rose Hare, a seasoned and renowned athlete of another Track and Field club. She also deserves full accolades for her performance.

  • Mohan Bains (70–74). He also took part in the Throws Pentathlon and scored 3364 Points, showing a marked improvement of nearly three hundred points from his performance in the World Masters in the month of July this year.

  • Harnek Toor (75–79). He also took part in the Throws Pentathlon and performed quite creditably. He broke the Canadian record in it which eluded him last year. He scored 3962 points eclipsing the existing record set by Marek Glowacki in 2016. In addition to the Throws Pentathlon, he also broke his own Canadian record in Weight Throw with a throw of 15.74 M and his own BC record in Hammer Throw with a throw of 37.56 M.

Our compliments to the champions!

Club Results at 2022 BC Masters Outdoor Track and Field Championship

The BC Masters Outdoor Track and Field Championship was held on August 13 and 14, 2022 at the South Surrey Athletic Park. It was hosted by the Greyhounds Track and Field Club.

This was the first meet of the season for Ultra Throw Club members to participate in and seven members registered, however, one member could not reach the venue due to a road closure enroute. As such, only six participated in the event.

Each did very well in their respective events and produced best pro-rata performance than members of any other throwing clubs. The results speak for themselves and are as follows:

1. Gabriella Moro – Competed in 4 events and won 4 Gold Medals.

2. Elizabeth Rollins – Competed in three events and won 1 Gold and 2 Silver Medals.

3. Aly Ismail – Competed in 1 event and won 1 Gold Medal.

4. AVTAR Chhina – Competed in 4 events and won 1 Gold and 3 Silver Medals.

5. Mohan Bains – Competed in 6 events and won 4 Gold and 2 Silver Medals.

6. Harnek Toor – Competed in 8 events and won 8 Gold Medals.

7. Jaswinder Pannu. Could not reach from 100 Mile House due to landslide, as such, DNS.

Now, all our preparation is for the upcoming BC Masters Throws Pentathlon Championship on August 27 followed by the 55+ Senior Games in Victoria in September.
