Teolis and Thiessen Represent Ultra Throw with Determination in Eugene
On June 21, Ultra Throw Club youth athletes Megan Teolis and Angelica Thiessen took to the international stage at the prestigious Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Oregon—an event that brings together top high school talent from across North America.
Competing in the Emerging Elite Girls 4kg Hammer Throw, both athletes faced heavy rain and challenging conditions. But true to Ultra Throw spirit, they gave it their all, staying positive and determined throughout the meet.
Megan Teolis, fresh off a personal best of 50.00m earlier this season in Kamloops, had a strong warm-up but unfortunately fouled all three of her competition attempts. It was a tough outcome, but a valuable learning experience at a high-stakes meet.
Angelica Thiessen also faced the elements head-on, fouling her first two throws before securing a legal mark on her third attempt. While neither athlete advanced to the top nine, both walked away with valuable experience, fresh motivation, and a clear sense of where they want to go next.
The Nike Outdoor Nationals is not just a competition—it’s an opportunity to grow, test oneself against some of the best, and be part of an elite track and field atmosphere. Despite the weather, a heavier implement (they use a 3kg in Canada) the girls brought home memories, resilience, and smiles—and that’s a win in our books.
Congratulations, Megan and Angelica—we’re proud of your hard work, courage, and commitment to growth on and off the field. Onward and upward!
