The 2025 BC Athletics Masters Outdoor Championship was held at the Percy Perry Stadium, Coquitlam from 15-17 August 15–17 under the aegis of the Greyhounds Track and Field Club.
The weather gods didn’t show any mercy on the first day when all athletes had to endure record rainfall with a chilly wind consequently affecting their performance in all the throwing events. However, the next two days were comparatively better resulting in some record performances.
Attended by some 200 Masters athletes converging from all parts of BC, the majority were from the Fraser Valley and seven from the Ultra Throw Club. Most of our members took part in the throwing events, however, two members namely David Ulis and Avtar Chhina had also tried their prowess in other field and track events as well. Their performance speaks volumes about their dominance in almost all the throwing events in their respective age groups.

After relocating back from Calgary, Andrew Arthur’s performance was commendable in his age group. Saroop Tatla has shown great promise in this big meet. Avtar Chhina has proved to be an all rounder who is quite suited to Track Pentathlon than the Throws Pentathlon. Our ‘old war horses‘ Ken Townsend and David Ulis are still doing wonders; and Shawn Stevens and Paramjit Gill are keeping up with them.
All of our Masters athletes have done Ultra Throw Club proud by their sterling performances. Surely they all will produce yet better results in the ensuing 55+ BC Games track and tield meet next month in Nanaimo.

Overall results of the Ultra Throw Club are far better in the Throws Pentathlon than any other Club earning 54 Points and way ahead from all others. This indeed is a commendable performance by all the participating pentathletes.
The Meet was well conducted by the Greyhounds as well as the BC Athletics officials despite the adverse weather conditions. The officials manning the Records Table deserve special commendation for tabulating and circulating the results of the Championship with utmost speed and accuracy. We are looking forward to reassemble for such a Meet next year.
