Strong Results at BC Championships
Congratulations to all of our athletes for representing Ultra Throw Club with dedication and determination. We look forward to seeing their continued progress in the competitions ahead! Throw Club athletes delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 BC Athletics Track & Field Championships, held July 3–5 at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam.
Seven athletes represented the club—two women and five men—competing against the province's best throwers. Their efforts were rewarded with five provincial medals, several top-six finishes, and valuable championship experience that will help shape the remainder of the season.
Leading the way was Charlotte Sears (U16), who captured two silver medals, throwing 38.56 metres in the hammer and 29.41 metres in the discus. Megan Teolis (U18) added a bronze medal in the hammer throw with a best of 46.09 metres.
On the men's side, Sebastian Body (U18) earned a bronze medal in the hammer throw with 45.95 metres and followed it up with sixth-place finishes in both the discus and shot put. Shawn Stevens competed in the highly competitive Senior Men's division, where he faced the added challenge of throwing the heavier senior implements. Despite that, he claimed a bronze medal in the discus and finished just off the podium in fourth place in the hammer throw.
Other strong performances included Liam Fox (U16), who narrowly missed the podium with a fourth-place finish in the javelin, and Ethan Lau (U18), who placed fifth in the shot put. Bella Zanotto (U16) took part in two events and came seventh-place in discus and seventh in shot put.
Not every competition goes exactly as planned. Marcellus McField and Ethan Lau recorded no-distance (ND) results in the hammer and discus, respectively. While disappointing in the moment, these experiences are an important part of an athlete's development and provide valuable opportunities to learn, regroup, and come back stronger.
"The BC Championships are one of the best opportunities each season for our athletes to see where they stand against the province's top competitors," said Ultra Throw Head Coach Shawn Stevens. "The results give us a clear picture of what's working, what needs refining, and where our focus should be heading into the next competitions."
With five medals, numerous personal lessons, and plenty of motivation for the weeks ahead, Ultra Throw Club leaves the provincial championships with confidence and excitement for the rest of the season.
