What was first planned as an in-house affair quickly expanded due to popular demand, attracting throwers from across the province — including athletes from as far as Prince George, Quesnel, and Vancouver Island.

Shawn Stevens made a powerful impression at the World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships in Gainesville, Florida, setting a BC Provincial Indoor Record in the weight throw and becoming the only male athlete in his division to compete in all five throwing events.
