Seven Gold Medals and Strong Performances at UBC
The 2026 BC Masters Track & Field Championships brought together an impressive field of Masters athletes at the Rashpal Dhillon Oval at UBC in Vancouver on August 14–15.
Athletes travelled from across British Columbia and Canada, as well as from the United States and India, making for a highly competitive weekend of Masters track and field.
Among the competitors were six athletes from Ultra Throw Club, who represented the club with determination and delivered some outstanding performances across the throwing events.
Shawn Stevens — 50–54
Shawn had a strong championship weekend, earning gold in hammer throw with a mark of 37.94 m and silver in discus with a throw of 38.02 m.
He also finished fifth in shot put with 10.21 m.
Paul Suwek — 50–54
Paul competed in discus, throwing 29.97 m to finish fourth in his age group.
Rajinder Sidhu — 50–54
Rajinder competed in shot put and recorded a throw of 9.68 m, placing sixth.
Stephen Hudson — 60–64
Stephen brought home a bronze medal in javelin, throwing 16.08 m in the 60–64 age group.
Marcel Kosierb — 65–69
Marcel delivered a gold-medal performance in discus, throwing an impressive 34.22 m to take first place in the 65–69 age group.
Ken Townsend — 80–84
Ken had an exceptional championship, sweeping all three of his events with three gold medals.
He won:

🥇 Discus: 19.84 m
🥇 Shot put: 6.74 m
Proud Moments for Ultra Throw
With athletes competing across four different age groups and a variety of throwing disciplines, the six Ultra Throw competitors demonstrated the depth, dedication and competitive spirit that make Masters athletics so rewarding.
Together, the team brought home seven gold medals, one silver and one bronze, while recording strong finishes throughout the competition.
